25 Accessories Stylish Men NEVER Wear

December 16, 2025
Every time I tried to lead men to the ‘style promised lands,’ I see a ton of comments that ‘real men don’t care about what other men think.” Wear what you wear; that it doesn’t matter.

Well, fine, they’re correct. Men can wear what they want; however, many men wear accessories that destroy their sexy style. Here are the ones you should avoid!

Accessories That Sabotage Men’s Style

  1. Tech watches. They look immature. Casios are cooler and don’t cost an arm and a leg.
  2. Fake Rolex. Anything fake sucks.
  3. Fedoras. They used to be a little stylish, but not anymore.
  4. Condom beanies. If you’re going to wear a beanie, wear it properly. Pull it down, fold it, and do not roll it.
  5. Offending baseball hats. If they’re stinky, too big, too flat, and off to the side, don’t wear them. Backward hats make a man look immature and young.
  6. Multiple rings on each hand. Also, thumb rings are not masculine.
  7. Earrings. I don’t recommend double hoop earrings like mine, which I’ve had since 6th grade. I’ve been told that I look feminine, so keep that in mind if you want to go for earrings. Opt for a simple stud, hoop, and nothing big.
  8. Gauges. They look dirty and scuzzy.
  9. Facial piercings. Eyebrow rings don’t look super great on dudes – a bit low class. Nose rings can look good on certain guys. If you go for it, go for a simple stud or hoop. Lips are off-limits because they look scummy. Nipples make you look freaky (I had them once). I don’t think people do tongues anymore, do they? Don’t pierce Big Al.
  10. Designer belts. Anything from Gucci to Louis Vuitton belts looks ostentatious and like you’re trying too hard. It’s gaudy flex.
  11. Anything blinged out.
  12. Super huge belt buckles.
  13. Jacked up belts. Opt for a minimal belt with a clean aesthetic from Anson Belt and Buckle.
  14. Giant and blinged-out chains. Opt for understated and straightforward chains with a simple pennant that is super clean and casual.
  15. Wearing multiple necklaces. This seems a bit tacky.
  16. Super tight chokers like puka shells, leather, or hemp. These are ridiculous. Less is more.
  17. Stacking bracelets. Wear one or two metal bracelets, or a simple cuff. A beaded bracelet is acceptable, but stacking a bunch with strings everywhere looks terrible. Fabric bracelets that never come off stink because they trap bacteria.
  18. Super thin and drapey scarves. These used to be in style about 10 years ago, but not anymore. Big and bulky knitted scarves can work, but they’re not something you should wear all the time. You don’t want to wear them inside either. I love scarves, especially lightweight ones made of plain fabric.
  19. Oversized sunglasses. These look pretty bad on those guys unless you have a big head. Go for sunglasses that are a bit more proportionate.
  20. Colored lenses. They can look good in some situations, but also really bad. Match your sunglasses to your outfit. Pit vipers look like a 12-year-old baseball player. If you’re 35, you look like a dumbass.
  21. Patterned ties. Go for a tie with a solid color and medium width. You don’t want funny patterns on it or ones that are too busy, that look tacky. It’s not ideal.
  22. Combining too many suit accessory pieces. Don’t combine a tie bar with a lapel pen, a pocket square, and cufflinks. It’s too busy and funky. Go simple. A tie bar looks proper.
  23. Puffy or pointed-designed pocket squares. Go for a subtle, simple white or a solid color. Don’t try anything crazy like a puff or weird pointed design. The pre-folded pocket squares with the cards are ugly and atrocious, with zero style. Go for a simple white pocket square and a presidential fold.
  24. Flashy and big cufflinks. Do not wear ostentatious cufflinks. Keep them simple and subdued. Go for something with a knot or cufflinks that expresses your personality, but don’t go overboard with bling.
  25. Lapel flowers. These were popular about 10 years ago, and nobody’s wearing them anymore. Lapel pins can look a bit tacky, especially when paired with other accessories.
