21 Items That Are a Total WASTE of Money

December 26, 2025
While watching this video, keep this in mind. Just because I think something is a waste of money doesn’t mean you do, too.

It boils down to what you value and what you’re into. And also, just because something is cheap or inexpensive doesn’t mean it’s a giant waste of money. That said, I want to go over some items I feel are colossal, monumental wastes of money.

Don’t blow your money on any of these!

  1. Fashion watches. Whether it’s Calvin Klein, Gucci, Armani, or otherwise, they are tacky and low quality. Just because a brand makes jeans and shoes doesn’t mean you should wear its watch.
  2. Anything fake. Whether it’s a fake Rolex, leather, or otherwise, it’s a waste of money. It just looks cheap.
  3. Anything you have to break in. Anytime you put on an item that’s not immediately comfortable, you’re not going to wear it, because the break-in process is going to be brutal and not enjoyable. You need to slip it on immediately and feel comfortable in it.
  4. Overpriced designer items. This applies to sneakers, shirts, and anything denim. When you’re shopping in the premium range of clothing, you’re not getting a good ROI on your spend. A lot of stylish, affordable brands won’t break the bank, and you’re not just paying for a name.
  5. Expensive white t-shirts. No matter how much you spend, you’re going to get pit stains, and it will be unwearable after 6 months or a year. So wearing a $100 white T-shirt is ridiculous.
  6. Synthetic workout clothing. Polyester or synthetic fabric traps odor-causing bacteria and stinks like B.O. after a couple of wears.
  7. Designer sunglasses. These are colossal wastes of money, since there are so many brands that won’t break the bank.
  8. Unworn items. If you buy something and never wear it, it’s a waste.
  9. Cheap underwear and socks. You can feel the difference when you slip on a nice pair of underwear.
  10. Overpriced designer fragrances. Instead of spending $500 on a bottle of Creed, you can find an inspired fragrance like Pete & Pedro REBEL for $50.
  11. Drugstore grooming products. Super affordable grooming products at the drug store can jack up your endocrine system and lower your testosterone levels. Upgrade your grooming products to sulfate-free, paraffin-free, and aluminum-free options.
  12. Overpriced razors. I go on Amazon and buy a 50-pack for like $5.
  13. Single-use tools. These tools are made for one part of your body. Invest in a high-quality grooming tool like the Brio that can work on everything from head to toe.
  14. Fast fashion suits. Cheap polyester suits from department stores are a waste of money. They’re low quality. Go for something from Suit Supply.
  15. Designer pets. There are many amazing animals that you can adopt for free from the pound. You will love them just as much, and they won’t cost thousands.
  16. Apple products. Apple is constantly upgrading to the latest model, wasting a tremendous amount of money on upgrading tech.
  17. Expensive liquor. Don’t get caught up in the brand’s hype. There are many high-quality, great-tasting, lower-cost options.
  18. Synthetic vitamins.  Synthetic vitamins are a scam. Instead, opt for organic vegetable and herb multivitamins. You need vitamins derived from whole-food ingredients so your body can absorb them rather than pee them out.
  19. Workout supplements. These are typically a waste of money. Focus on working out harder, eating healthier, and consuming enough protein.
  20. Unused gym memberships. If you don’t go, it’s a waste of money. A lot of people don’t cancel because they feel guilty. If you’re not going, save the money.
  21. Unused subscription services. Make sure to review what you’ve subscribed to over the years because these can add up to a massive waste of money.
  22. Cheap fitness equipment. A lot of people think they’ll use these in their home, but in reality, the cheap equipment will break and fall apart.
  23. Cars you can’t afford. This is a significant waste of money. If you’re buying things to impress others, it’s a huge waste of money. Expensive cars are an ego purchase and a huge waste.
