The urban male has been going through an identity transformation. Back early 2000, guys started to pay attention to themselves with style and grooming where previously it was only gay men. What did we call these men who were polished and dressed well? Metrosexual. The term is not being used any more. A pseudo outdoorsy look of the lumbersexual screams, “I am a rugged son-of-a-bitch, and I’ve got a beard!” The lumbersexual is characterized by flannel shirts, boots, denim, and the obligatory beard. He probably carries a pocket knife to the microbrewery. Alpha is not making this up! Google it!
Alpha loves the lumbersexual look, which rejects society standards but still appreciates a nice pomade and artisan beard oil. This look is men reclaiming their masculinity. We as men have lost a little bit of our edge, but this whole lumbersexual movement helps reclaim masculinity. Some dudes are just sheep following it, but many are simply rejecting society, saying, “I am not going to be a pretty boy.“
