In the past year, I’ve made my health a much bigger priority. After turning 50, one of my biggest goals was to get into the best shape of my life—and I honestly feel like I’ve done it. Along with improving my diet, training consistently, and dialing in my lifestyle, I’ve also been paying close attention to my blood work.
One number I was especially excited about was my testosterone, which recently came back at 833—the highest it’s ever been. And before anybody jumps to conclusions, I’ve never taken testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). What I do take is a carefully chosen lineup of vitamins, minerals, and supplements, and since you guys have been asking about them, I decided to share exactly what’s in my supplement drawer.
A piece of the BIG puzzle
Now, I want to be crystal clear: I’m not saying supplements are the reason my testosterone is high or why I feel great. In my opinion, they’re just one piece of a much bigger puzzle. Your diet, sleep, exercise, stress management, genetics, and overall lifestyle will always have a much greater impact on your health than any pill or powder ever will. Supplements aren’t magic—they’re there to support the foundation you’ve already built. And because vitamins and herbal supplements aren’t regulated the same way as prescription drugs, I also believe you need to do your own research before taking anything. Don’t copy what somebody on YouTube is doing just because they seem healthy. Figure out what makes sense for your body and your goals.
Over the years, I’ve also learned that quality matters. Back when I owned my nutrition store, I saw firsthand that not all supplement companies are created equal. There are brands that have built solid reputations over decades, and then there are flashy companies making outrageous promises, like “Testosterone Max Extreme 3000.” I’m much more interested in companies that focus on quality ingredients and consistency than marketing hype. If I’m putting something into my body every single day, I want to trust where it came from.
Supplementation & beyond
- When it comes to the supplements themselves, I take a testosterone support formula, L-carnitine, creatine, Brain Elevate, L-arginine, vitamin C, omega-3 fish oil, Seed probiotics, and a daily multivitamin. Each serves a different purpose in my routine. Creatine isn’t just about building muscle anymore—I’m fascinated by the growing research surrounding its potential brain health benefits. L-arginine supports blood flow, fish oil has helped improve my cholesterol alongside diet and exercise, and probiotics help keep my digestive system healthy. The multivitamin simply fills in nutritional gaps that even a healthy diet can leave behind.
- Joint health and long-term wellness are just as important to me as building muscle. That’s why I also take glucosamine with MSM for my joints, liver support supplements containing ingredients like milk thistle, berberine to help with cholesterol management, and a prostate support formula. As we get older, taking care of the systems we don’t think about every day becomes increasingly important. It’s not glamorous, but neither is dealing with preventable health problems later in life.
- Because my coronary calcium score came back elevated, I also added vitamin K2 to my regimen to support proper calcium utilization. I pair that with vitamin D3, which I consider one of the most important supplements almost everyone should look into. Vitamin D supports everything from immune function to testosterone production, and despite spending time outdoors, many people still don’t get enough. That’s one of the reasons I believe supplementation has value—you simply can’t eat enough food every day to consistently reach optimal levels of many micronutrients.
- I also include a super antioxidant formula and a B-complex vitamin. I think of antioxidants as helping my body fight the daily wear and tear caused by free radicals—the same process that causes a sliced apple to turn brown. While we can’t stop aging, I believe we can give our bodies more tools to defend themselves. B vitamins are another staple because they’re involved in countless functions throughout the body, from energy production to stress management and immune health.
- Beyond capsules, there are two things I use every single day that I think deserve special mention: psyllium husk and protein powder. Psyllium husk is an incredible source of fiber that helps support digestive health, cholesterol levels, blood sugar control, and satiety. Protein powder makes it much easier for me to consistently hit my protein goals, whether I’m mixing it into oatmeal or using it to make one of my Ninja Creamies. They’re simple additions, but they’ve become part of my daily routine.
Pulling back the curtain
At the end of the day, I don’t believe there’s a single supplement that’s responsible for my health. I believe it’s the combination of smart nutrition, consistent training, quality sleep, good habits, and filling in nutritional gaps where it makes sense. Supplements are exactly what their name suggests—they supplement an already healthy lifestyle. They’re not a replacement for it.
And if there’s one takeaway I hope you remember, it’s this: don’t blindly copy my routine. Use it as a starting point to ask better questions and do your own research. Today we have incredible tools—including AI—to help us understand what nutrients might benefit our individual needs. What works for me may not work for you, and that’s okay. My goal wasn’t to tell you what to take. It was simply to pull back the curtain, show you what’s worked for me, and encourage you to take ownership of your own health journey.
