I have a story for you! I have stories of identity theft, and the last one was a catfish that was really messed up. Three times it happened, which the first wasn’t bad, the second was a financial issue, and the last was almost a reason for divorce. We all NEED identity theft protection! Recently, I switched to Aura recently due to affordability and having everything under one roof. Let me explain.
Don’t let this happen to you
The first identity theft was when someone opened a Verizon account in my name. I reported the identity theft to the police, which they just suggested identity monitoring. A few months later, when I went to the bank, I found out someone called the bank and changed my account. They even ordered checks! They accessed my information AND my money. I felt violated and vulnerable. My bank account wasn’t linked to my fraud protection, which is why I like Aura.
I am 6 feet tall?
The most recent incident, someone used all of my information to create a Bumble account. My wife gets a message from a woman saying she has a date with me. They messaged back and forth, which my wife realized that it couldn’t be me. The thief put that I am 6 feet tall in the Bumble listing and that I was in Florida, which was a dead give-away that the account wasn’t me. I’ve been cyber-stalked before, but this is the first that infidelity was combined into the identity theft.
