Aaron Marino of alpha m. is talking about how to dine like a gentlemen. He sees men eating like a freaking animal. There is etiquette to be considered.
Dining Dos and Don’ts
- Make reservations – call ahead and determine if the establishment accepts reservations, call-ahead-seating, or only walk-ins.
- Dress appropriately when dining out – always avoid tanks, flip flops, and hats. As the price-point goes up so does the dress. Avoid tee shirts, jeans, sneakers, and tennis shoes with nicer establishments.
- Pull the chair out for your lady – if you have a group of women, go for the older lady. Always sits down last.
- When sitting, places your napkin in your lap before all else!
- Order last – this goes for drinks as well.
- When a lady excuses herself as when as she returns, stand up.
- Use the proper utensils at the proper time.
- Take reasonably sized bites of food and chew with mouth closed.
- Take your time eating – consume at a reasonable pace and enjoy the experience.
- When on a date, pick up the tab, period.
- Be generous with tipping – 20% is standard.
- Bring a little cash with you for the valet who parks your car – tip him too ($3 to $5 or more)
