13 Grooming Rules MOST Guys Get WRONG

March 31, 2026
This one hit a little too close to home for me. I literally got called out mid-action for letting things go for THREE weeks. THAT, right there, is the problem.

Grooming isn’t something you do when it gets bad—it’s something you stay on top of. Grooming isn’t about vanity—it’s about respect. For yourself, for your partner, and for the way you show up in the world. You don’t need to be perfect—but you do need to be consistent. Because when you handle the details? Everything else in your life starts leveling up. That said, here are the grooming rules I live by.

Break any of these — and it’s costing you

1. Weekly Maintenance is Non-Negotiable

If you’re not doing a full grooming once-over every single week, you’re already behind. I’m talking beard, body, balls, nose hairs—everything. Stay consistent so nothing ever gets out of control.

2. Your Beard Needs Discipline

If your beard is patchy, keep it short or shave it—don’t force it. If it’s big and bushy, trim it. Clean up the neckline and cheeks. No neckbeards, no wild wolf-man vibes—tight, clean, intentional.

3. Upgrade Your Shaving Game

If you’re still using multi-blade razors and getting razor burn or ingrowns, stop. I’m a huge fan of foil shavers—they give you a clean look without tearing up your skin or cutting hair below the surface.

4. Hair Care Isn’t Optional

If your hair is greasy, wash it—yes, even daily if needed. Condition your hair to keep it soft and healthy. And for the love of style, pick a haircut that matches your face shape and add volume—flat hair is not doing you any favors.

5. Sideburns & Style Details Matter

Stop shaving your sideburns off or cutting them too high. They should sit naturally and follow your jawline—small details like this separate polished from sloppy.

6. Body Hair Needs Strategy

If you’re carrying extra weight, going completely hairless isn’t always the move—leave a little coverage. But your bush? Trim it. Your balls? Shave them. That’s non-negotiable, gentlemen.

7. Back Hair Has to Go

I don’t care what else you do—back hair is not optional. Remove it. Period.

8. Skincare = Mandatory

If you’re not taking care of your skin in 2026, what are you doing? Clear skin, hydrated skin, healthy skin—that’s part of being a high-value, well-groomed man.

9. Don’t Dye Your Hair Wrong

If you’ve got gray, own it—or tone it down naturally. But jet-black dye? Hard no. It looks fake and obvious. Keep it subtle and real.

10. Nails, Hands, and Feet—Fix Them

If your nails are jagged, dirty, or bitten, it’s a problem. Same goes for your feet—handle the dead skin, trim the nails, and don’t be gross.

11. Smell Clean—Everywhere

Deodorant is mandatory. No excuses. And yes—powder your balls daily. Stay dry, fresh, and comfortable.

12. Oral Hygiene is a Game-Changer

Brush twice a day, floss, clean your tongue, and fix your teeth if needed. Your smile is one of your most powerful assets—don’t neglect it.

13. Fragrance—Use It Right

Too much? Overpowering. Too little? Missed opportunity. Three sprays—neck, neck, chest. Done. Stop spraying your wrists like it’s 1999.

Sea SALT Spray and Texture Powder are compared to determine which is better for your hairstyle needs. SALT adds natural texture, flow, and wave. It works for all hair types and lengths, enhancing curls, waves, or adding life to flat, straight hair.

Texture Powder, on the other hand, is designed to deliver maximum volume and weightless lift. It’s best for shorter, choppier hairstyles or any look that needs height and fullness. Unlike a gel, it provides hold without grease, shine, or crunchiness.

In general, choose SALT for movement and natural waves, and Texture Powder for volume and lift. Both products can also be used together—start with SALT, then finish with Texture Powder on dry hair for the best results.
