8 Places Men Should NEVER Shave… EVER

August 27, 2024
I get a lot of emails inquiring how to solve certain grooming issues, and the other day, I received one about a guy who shaved off his widow’s peak. He wanted to know how he could reduce the appearance of that stubble growing in. My answer was to let it go back and never do that again. In some places on your body, you should never shave with a razor because it will look stupid or get super irritated. Today, I want to review some places you should never shave.

Several tools are an option for hair removal, including tweezers, waxing, and shaving. Tweezing can be painful because it removes the hair from the root. Waxing will keep it from growing back as quickly. And shaving is affordable but not permanent. You’ll have stubble almost instantly because it produces the fattest cross-section of the hair. Shaving can also create ingrown hairs. Another option is trimming. It doesn’t allow the hair to get ingrown, so depending on the area, this is a preferred and ideal method.

One more note is that men look better with facial hair. It makes them look more rugged, manly, and sexy. If you don’t have to shave your facial hair, don’t. Leave some stubble, which will make you look more sexy. Just make sure it’s well-maintained and groomed.

Never shave these areas

  1. Widow’s peak. You’ll see instant stubble, especially the darker your hair. You want to leave your hairline as natural as possible.
  2. Half mustache. Don’t shave half of your mustache. I see dudes doing this, but they should leave it as natural as possible. Follow the growth pattern.
  3. Unnatural beard. Never shave your beard in any unnatural shape, such as thin. Also don’t let it grow too high on your cheeks either because you look like a wolf. But do make sure you edge well. Don’t go against the grain; use a single pass with a safety or single-blade razor.
  4. Neck. If you get ingrown hairs, bumps, or burns, reduce the occurrence by using a single-blade or cheap, disposable razor. Don’t use a cartridge razor. That’s why I use my Brio Zero Blade.
  5. Under the chin. Never shave under the chin because you look like you have a double chin or a weak jaw. Check out my demonstration on how to determine where to shave this area.
  6. Eyebrows. I’ve discussed this before, but never use a razor on your eyebrows. You’ll see a fat cross-section of the hair, so you’ll look like you have 5:00 stubble on your brows. You can also get ingrown hairs and razor burns on your eyebrows, which look terrible. Use a tweezer instead.
  7. Pubes. Never shave your pubes with a razor. It’s extremely uncomfortable in the sensitive area, and then wearing pants will further increase the likelihood of ingrown hairs, burns, and bumps. If you want to go bald eagle, consider a racing stripe. Or take it short without taking the hair below the skin, which causes ingrown hairs and irritations. Testicles and the base of your wiener should always be shaved, IMO.
  8. Butt cheeks and crack. Removing hair down past the skin’s surface can grow back trapped. You’ll end up with ingrown hairs. If you’ve ever shaved your butt cheeks, it starts to grow back itchy and prickly. It’s uncomfortable. Instead, grab a Brio and run it up your butt cheeks and then grab a cheek and open up a bit. Just be careful of your rosebud.
