Men’s Khakis and Slacks | Proper Fitting Pants
Alpha can’t stand shopping for pants off-the-rack. He doesn’t love the fit, so he buys a pants that are passable and not ‘great’. Aaron Marino of alpha m. covers the three most common pants as well as the difference between khakis and chinos.
Khakis: Guys love khakis that refer to color and style. They fit the average man (who is 40 pound overweight on the average), which is loose and comfortable. They come in flat front or pleated. There are 20 shades of khaki from sand to dark green. Khaki pants are casual cotton pant although guys try to dress them up. They are an alternative to jeans.
Chinos: A slightly dressier option is a chino. It’s a better fitting version of the sloppy khaki pant. They come in 100% cotton or cotton / synthetic blend. The most distinguishing feature is the fit which is slimmer leg with lower rise and tapered ankle. The chino gives you a clean and simple line. It’s a bit dressier than khakis.
Dress Pants: Every man needs a perfectly fitting pair of flat front dress pants. The fabric is wool or synthetic (micro-fiber). Alpha presents an example of the synthetic micro-fiber pant. These pants looks great in the store and are reasonably priced but you’re wasting your money as they show age quickly. You need to buy a higher quality version. Alpha recommends the wool dress pant. The wool is finer, softer, plusher, and breathable that is an all weather wool.
