I Wore a Glucose Monitor for 21 Days… and Got Shredded

June 24, 2026
For the past six months, I’ve been on a mission to get into the best shape of my life before turning 50. I started at 163 pounds and fought tooth and nail to lose body fat.

I was doing intense workouts, double cardio sessions, carefully counting calories, and honestly, I thought getting older was the reason it was becoming so difficult. But I was wrong.

The biggest breakthrough I had wasn’t a new workout. It wasn’t some miracle supplement. It was understanding how my body handles glucose and insulin.

After some concerning blood work—higher cholesterol, elevated triglycerides, and fasting blood sugar above the normal range—I started digging deeper. Then I had another calcium score done on my heart, and while the number was still relatively low, it had increased significantly over a few years. That was my wake-up call.

A friend recommended a book called The Glucose Revolution, and it completely changed how I think about food. I realized that it wasn’t just what I was eating that mattered—it was when I ate, how I ate, and even the order in which I ate my food.

I discovered that massive glucose spikes can wreak havoc on your metabolism, insulin sensitivity, energy levels, cravings, and your ability to lose body fat. And the crazy thing is, I thought I was eating healthy. Sweet potatoes, barley, protein bars, low-carb wraps—I thought I had it all figured out.
I didn’t.

The Biggest Changes I Made

I eat fiber first. Before anything else, I start meals with vegetables or salad. Protein and fats come second. Chicken, eggs, fish, nuts—these are next. Carbohydrates come last. Instead of bread before dinner, carbs are the final thing I eat. I stopped snacking at night. This was huge.

For years, I’d wake up in the middle of the night and eat something sweet. I had no idea how badly it was affecting my blood sugar.

I increased my fiber intake dramatically. I’ve been using psyllium husk before meals, and it’s been an absolute game-changer for appetite control and stabilizing blood sugar.

I started tracking my glucose with a continuous glucose monitor. Watching in real time how my body reacts to food, stress, and exercise has been fascinating.

What Happened Next Blew My Mind

Within weeks, my body fat started dropping faster than it had during the previous four months of grinding in the gym. I stopped craving sweets, I stopped waking up in the middle of the night to snacks, and I wasn’t hungry all the time anymore.

My energy shot through the roof, and for the first time, losing body fat felt easy instead of feeling like punishment. The crazy part is that I didn’t drastically reduce calories. I didn’t eliminate carbs completely. I simply learned how to manage my glucose response and improve my insulin sensitivity.

The Biggest Lesson

For years, I believed fat loss was all about calories in versus calories out. And while calories matter, I’ve learned there’s another layer to the story—how your body processes those calories. Understanding glucose, insulin, and blood sugar has been one of the biggest health revelations of my life.

If you’re struggling to lose body fat, constantly hungry, craving sugar, or feeling like your metabolism is broken, my advice is simple: learn how your body responds to food, flatten your glucose curve, and pay attention to your blood sugar. Because sometimes the answer isn’t working harder. It’s understanding your body better.

One haircut does not lock you into one look. The real difference comes from how you style it. With the right products, you can shift your hair from clean and controlled to messy and textured or full and voluminous without ever touching the clippers again. A lightweight spray builds natural movement, a cream adds shape and control, and a powder pushes volume and separation for a more lived-in finish.

Same haircut, completely different energy depending on how you style it that day!
