7 Signs Someone Is Fake Rich

October 11, 2023
One of the problems with the internet and social media is that pretty much anybody can look super wealthy. These ‘fake rich’ people are a problem because regular people can start to feel bad about themselves. The ‘fake rich’ gurus can also cost people money because many who look super successful have courses or coaching programs trying to teach their ‘secrets’ to make a lot of money.

Many shady people are out there, looking like they’re super successful and posting all of this amazing stuff on social media. They will try to convince you they are wealthy & successful and have a secret. The truth is most of these people are broke as hell. So, to help you identify the difference between somebody thriving and somebody not, I will go over subtle signs that someone is fake.

How to identify the shady ‘fake rich’

  1. Car versus home. Someone ‘fake’ rich drives a super badass car but lives in a one-bedroom, inexpensive apartment. They will have crappy furniture, which is also a telltale sign. They only let everybody see the extravagant stuff.
  2. Lack of savings. Those who are ‘fake rich’ do not have money in the bank or investments. They don’t have financial freedom because the cash that comes in goes back out. They typically have debt because they’ve had to use that to pay for their nice cars and designer clothes.
  3. The latest trends. Those who are fake rich are always focused on wearing the latest trends because they think other people will perceive them as killing it. The truth is they’re broke as hell from spending $1,000 on a t-shirt.
  4. No impulse control. This is so incredibly prevalent with ‘fake rich’ people. They get a little bit of money and spend it immediately, and they don’t think about investing for the future or long-term. They think about spending money on new sneakers and other brand-name items.
  5. Constant money talk. ‘Fake rich’ people always boast about buying this and doing that. They don’t understand money or have financial literacy. They should be utilizing profits and investing them. ‘Fake rich’ people always talk about the latest thing they will buy or purchase. Sure, they may have a bit of money from a nice paycheck, but they are wasting it and not putting it in the bank. It’s all about show and being super obsessed with material possessions.
  6. Jealousy. ‘Fake rich’ people are jealous of successful others, and they may try to keep up with them. But on the flip side, successful people are not looking at everybody else because they’re focused on themselves and their journey. Worrying about others is just a waste of brain power and resources. ‘Fake rich’ people obsess about others.
  7. Talk versus action. When somebody talks a lot about the things they are going to do or constantly talks about the hustle and grind, these are huge signs. What have they truly done? ‘Fake rich’ people are so busy broadcasting their status and insisting there’s a simple solution or secret. The fact is you need to roll up your sleeves and do the work.
